Triggers
Start a workflow when something happens in NASA Exoplanet Archive.
- New exoplanet confirmedRuns when the NASA Exoplanet Archive adds a newly confirmed planet, with its size, orbit, distance, star and discovery. The archive adds planets weekly. Optionally only one discovery method or facility.
Actions
Steps a workflow can run in NASA Exoplanet Archive.
- Search planetsSearch the confirmed exoplanets by any mix of name, discovery method, facility and year, host star type, radius, mass, orbit, temperature and distance, sorted as you choose: the nearest planets, Earth-sized ones, a year's discoveries, the hottest giants. Each planet comes with its size, orbit, temperature, distance, star and discovery. No API key required.
- Get a planetGet one confirmed exoplanet by name with everything the archive has on it: size, mass, orbit, temperature, how and when it was found, the discovery paper, its JWST observations and its star. A name the archive doesn't have comes back with 'found' set to false rather than failing the step. No API key required.
- Get a star systemGet a star and every confirmed planet orbiting it, innermost first: the star's type, temperature, size, mass, age and distance, and each planet's size and orbit. A star the archive doesn't list comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
- Get a random planetGet a confirmed exoplanet picked at random, with everything the archive has on it: for a 'planet of the day' post or a quiz. Optionally only planets found by one method. No API key required.
- List newly confirmed planetsList the planets the archive added as confirmed since a day (30 days ago unless you choose), newest first, with the day each was added. The archive adds planets weekly. No API key required.
- List recently updated planetsList the planets whose parameters the archive added or revised since a day (14 days ago unless you choose), such as a new mass or radius from a new paper, most recent first. Newly added planets are included. No API key required.
- Count planetsCount the confirmed exoplanets by discovery method, discovery year, facility, ground or space, or number of planets in the system, with each group's share: for a chart or a 'how many planets do we know' post. Optionally only one method or a range of years. No API key required.
- List TESS Objects of InterestList TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs), the planet candidates found by NASA's TESS mission, with their disposition (planet candidate, confirmed, false positive and so on), size, orbit and star. Filter by disposition, TOI or TIC number, size, distance, or when they were created or updated. No API key required.
- Look up Kepler and K2 namesFind a Kepler or K2 planet's other names: its Kepler Object of Interest (KOI), Kepler or K2 name, star number (KIC or EPIC) and the name the archive files it under. Give any one of them, or a star's to list its planets. Nothing found comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
- Run an ADQL queryFor researchers: run your own ADQL (the archive's SQL) SELECT on its catalogue tables of planets, stars, TESS and Kepler candidates, and get the rows back as they come, up to 1,000. No API key required.
