CMS Provider Data

• Search datasetsSearch the Provider Data Catalog's datasets (about 240, on hospitals, nursing homes, home health, hospice, dialysis, doctors and more) by words and topic. Each comes with its id for 'Query a dataset', what it holds, when it was updated and its CSV and data dictionary links. No API key required.
• Get a datasetGet one dataset's details (what it holds, its topic, update dates and links), how many rows it has and every column with its label: the names 'Query a dataset' and 'Count rows' take. An id CMS doesn't have comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
• Query a datasetRead any dataset's rows: only those matching your exact matches and conditions, with the columns you pick, sorted and paged, up to 1,500 at a time, with how many match in all. For the measures the 'Find' actions don't show, such as a hospital's readmission rates or a nursing home's inspection citations. No API key required.
• Count rowsCount a dataset's rows by the values of up to three columns, with each group's share: nursing homes by star rating, hospitals by state and type, penalties by type. Optionally only rows matching exact matches and conditions. No API key required.
• Find hospitalsFind hospitals registered with Medicare by state, city, ZIP code, name, type, ownership, emergency department and lowest overall star rating, with each one's address, phone, type and Care Compare star rating. No API key required.
• Get a hospitalGet one hospital by its CMS Certification Number (CCN): its details, overall star rating, how it compares with the nation in each measure group (mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, timely care) and its patient survey star ratings. A CCN CMS doesn't have comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
• Find nursing homesFind Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing homes by state, city, ZIP code, name, ownership and lowest overall or staffing star rating, with each one's beds, star ratings, chain, abuse flag and penalties count. No API key required.
• Get a nursing homeGet one nursing home by its CMS Certification Number (CCN): every star rating, staffing hours and turnover, its latest inspection, its chain and every fine and payment denial on record. A CCN CMS doesn't have comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
• Find home health agenciesFind Medicare-certified home health agencies that serve a ZIP code, or by state, city, name or CCN, with the services they offer and lowest quality star rating: each with its rating, services, timely care and readmission results. No API key required.
• Find hospicesFind Medicare-certified hospices that serve a ZIP code, or by state, city, name or CCN and lowest family caregiver star rating, with each one's address, ownership and rating. No API key required.
• Find dialysis facilitiesFind Medicare-certified dialysis facilities by state, city, ZIP code, name, CCN, chain, services, profit status and lowest star rating, with each one's stations, rating and patient outcomes. No API key required.
• Find doctors and cliniciansFind doctors and other clinicians enrolled in Medicare by name, specialty, state, city, ZIP code or group practice: one entry per practice location, with their NPI, specialties, group, address and phone. Searches take a few seconds, as the directory has 3.6 million entries. No API key required.
• Get a doctor or clinicianGet one clinician by NPI: name, credential, specialties, education, telehealth, every practice location and group, the hospitals and other facilities they work with (by CCN) and their latest MIPS quality score. An NPI not in the directory comes back with 'found' set to false. No API key required.
