The Film API

• List filmsList films from the catalogue, filtered by brand, format, colour, developing process and ISO, and sorted. With no filters set this is the whole catalogue; the service itself returns its films in no particular order, so the sort is what makes two runs agree.
• Search filmsSearch by free text across a film's name, its brand, its key features and its description, closest matches first, so 'infrared', 'push processing' and 'portra' all find something. Every result says which fields it matched.
• Get a filmGet one film's full record: ISO, colour or black and white, negative or slide, the chemistry it is developed in, the formats it is sold in, its key features and its description. A name that matches several films says which ones rather than picking one.
• Find a film for a shootRecommend films for a specific shoot: the camera you are taking, the look you want, the light you will be in and the processes your lab actually runs. The light picks the ISO range, and results are ranked by how many stops each film sits from the speed that light wants.
• Compare filmsCompare two to six films side by side: what they agree on and what they do not, the formats and processes they have in common, and how many stops separate the slowest from the fastest.
• Pick a film at randomPick a film at random from the catalogue or from the part your filters leave, for a film-of-the-week post or for choosing what to load. Give it a seed and the same seed picks the same films every time.
• List film brandsList every brand with what it covers: how many films, how they split between colour and black and white, the ISO range they span, the formats they come in and the processes they need.
• Summarize the catalogueGet the whole catalogue in numbers: how many films from how many brands, the colour and black-and-white split, negative against slide, 35mm against 120, the spread across ISO bands and processes, and which films were added most recently.
