Blockscout

Cryptocurrency

Read any EVM chain through Blockscout, the open-source block explorer behind Ethereum, Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Gnosis, zkSync and a hundred more. Look up an address's balance, tokens, NFTs and history, follow a transaction with its decoded method call and events, read blocks, tokens, holders and verified contract source, and search a chain by name, address or hash. One PRO API key from dev.blockscout.com reaches every chain, and the free plan covers all but Base, Polygon and zkSync; each step picks its chain from a dropdown. Amounts come back in raw units and whole coins, gas in gwei and timestamps as dates, and every address carries the name, ENS and labels Blockscout knows it by.

Actions

Steps your workflow can run in Blockscout.

List supported chainsList every chain the Blockscout PRO API covers - Ethereum, Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Gnosis, zkSync and a hundred more, testnets included - with each one's chain id, native coin and explorer, and whether it needs a paid plan. The chain id is what every other action's Chain field holds. Needs no credits: the list is public.
Get chain statisticsGet a snapshot of a chain right now: how many blocks, transactions and addresses it has, how many transactions it carried today, its average block time, how busy it is, the native coin's price and market cap, and the gas prices being paid. The one call behind a chain status board.
Get gas pricesGet the gas prices a chain is asking right now, in gwei, for a slow, an average and a fast transaction - the numbers behind the gas tracker on the explorer. Poll it on a schedule to alert when gas drops below a threshold, or to hold a transaction back until the chain is cheap.
Get daily transaction countsGet how many transactions a chain carried on each of the last thirty days, oldest first - the series behind the activity chart on the explorer's front page, ready for a chart or a week-over-week comparison.
Get the native coin's price historyGet the native coin's closing price and market cap in US dollars for each of the last thirty days, oldest first, plus its available supply. Where the chain's total value locked is tracked, that comes too.
Get an addressLook up a wallet or contract: its native coin balance in wei, whole coins and US dollars, what Blockscout calls it - contract name, ENS name, public labels such as an exchange's deposit wallet - whether it is a contract, verified, a proxy or flagged as a scam, how many transactions and token transfers it has made, and who deployed it if it is a contract. The step to put in front of a decision about an unknown address.
List an address's transactionsList the transactions an address sent or received, newest first, each with its value, fee, whether it succeeded, the method it called decoded by name, and who was on the other end - with their names and labels. Narrow it to what the address sent or what it received.
List an address's token transfersList the token transfers that touched an address, newest first - ERC-20 payments, NFTs changing hands, ERC-1155 quantities - each with the token's name, symbol and decimals and the amount in both raw and whole units. Narrow it to a standard, a direction, or one token's contract.
List an address's token balancesList every token an address holds, most valuable first, each with the token's name, symbol and price and the holding in raw units, whole tokens and US dollars - plus the portfolio's total in dollars. Narrow it to a standard to get only ERC-20 holdings, or only NFTs.
List an address's internal transactionsList the internal transactions that touched an address - the value moves a contract made on its own, which never appear in the normal transaction list. A withdrawal from an exchange contract or a DeFi position lands here, not under the address's transactions.
List a contract's event logsList the events a contract emitted, newest first, each decoded against its ABI when Blockscout knows it - so a Transfer arrives with its from, to and value as named fields rather than as hex topics. Give a topic to keep only one kind of event.
List an address's NFTsList the NFTs an address holds, each with its collection, token id, name, image and traits from its metadata - and, for an ERC-1155, how many of that token id it has. Narrow it to ERC-721 or ERC-1155.
Get an address's daily balance historyGet an address's native coin balance at the end of each of the last days Blockscout tracked, oldest first - the series behind the balance chart on its page, ready to plot or to compare with last week.
List the richest addressesList the addresses holding the most of a chain's native coin, largest first, each with its balance in coins and US dollars, its transaction count and the name Blockscout knows it by - an exchange, a bridge, a staking contract. Rank by transaction count instead to find the busiest addresses.
Get a transactionGet one transaction in full: whether it succeeded and why not if it failed, who sent it to whom - with their names and labels - the value and fee, the gas it used and paid, the method it called decoded by name with its arguments, and how many blocks deep it is. Also the step to poll while a payment confirms: status reads pending until it is mined.
List a transaction's token transfersList every token that moved inside one transaction - each with the token's name, symbol and decimals, who sent it to whom, and the amount in raw and whole units. This is what shows what a swap actually swapped.
List a transaction's internal transactionsBreak one transaction open and list every call and value move it set off inside contracts - the way to see where the money actually went in a multi-step contract call, and which inner call failed when one did.
List a transaction's event logsList the events one transaction emitted, each decoded against the emitting contract's ABI when Blockscout knows it, so an Approval or a Swap arrives with named fields. The raw topics and data are kept alongside for anything undecoded.
List recent transactionsList the latest transactions on a chain, newest first - the live feed on the explorer's front page - or the ones still waiting to be mined. A sample of what is going on right now.
Get a blockGet one block: when it was mined, who produced it, how many transactions it holds, how full it was, its base fee and the fees it burned and paid out. Name it by number or by hash, or leave the field blank for the newest block - which is how a workflow checks the chain is moving.
List recent blocksList the most recently mined blocks, newest first, with when each was mined, who produced it, what is in it and how full it was. Switch to uncle blocks or to blocks dropped in a reorganisation to see those instead.
List a block's transactionsList the transactions a block confirmed, in the order they were mined, each with its value, fee, status and decoded method. Name the block by number or by hash.
Get block number by date and timeFind the block produced at a given moment - the bridge between a date and the block numbers the other actions take. Pick the date and time and this converts it; choose whether you want the last block before that moment or the first one after.
Get a tokenLook up a token by its contract: its name, symbol, decimals and standard, total supply, how many addresses hold it and how many times it has moved, its price, market cap and daily volume where it trades, and whether Blockscout flags it as a scam.
Search tokensFind tokens on a chain by name or symbol, most held first, each with its contract address, standard, decimals, holder count and price - the way to turn 'USDC on Base' into the contract address the other token actions take.
List a token's holdersList the addresses holding the most of a token, largest first, each with its holding in raw and whole units, its share of the supply, and the name Blockscout knows the holder by - an exchange, a pool, a treasury.
List a token's transfersList the latest transfers of one token, newest first - who sent how much to whom, in raw and whole units, and in which transaction. For an NFT collection, which token ids moved.
Get an NFTLook up one NFT by its collection and token id: its name, description, image and traits from its metadata, who owns it now, and the collection it belongs to.
Get a verified contractGet a verified contract's name, source code and ABI, the compiler and settings it was built with, its licence, the arguments it was deployed with, and - when it is a proxy - the implementation it points at. The function and event names are pulled out of the ABI so a workflow can read them without parsing it. is_verified is false rather than an error when the source was never published.
Search a chainSearch a chain the way the explorer's search box does: by a token or contract name, an ENS name, a public label, or a partial address, hash or block number. Each result says what it is - token, contract, address, block, transaction, ENS domain - and carries the address or hash the other actions take.
