Steps a workflow can run in NASA Images.

  • Search images and videosSearch NASA's library of photographs, video and audio: everything on images.nasa.gov. Match on words in the title and caption, and narrow by kind of media, keyword, NASA center, photographer, place and the dates it was taken. Each result comes back with its caption, its ID and a picture ready to show.
  • Get an image or videoGet everything the library holds about one photo, video or audio clip: its caption, when and where it was taken, who took it, and a link to the file itself at every size it was published in: a thumbnail for a list, a medium for an e-mail, the original for print.
  • Get items in an albumGet what is in one of the library's albums: the sets NASA groups a mission, an event or an anniversary into. Album names come back on every search result under 'albums'.
  • Get a video transcriptGet the words spoken in a NASA video as plain text, ready to summarise, search or subtitle, plus each line with the time it is said. A video with no transcript comes back empty with a note saying so, rather than failing, so this is safe to run over a list of videos.
  • Get camera and file detailsGet how the original file was made: the camera, lens, aperture, shutter speed and ISO for a photograph that records them, the duration and frame rate for a video, and the dimensions, format and file size for either. Older scans and mission renderings carry no camera settings, and come back with those fields empty.
